People thinking they require multi gigabit for a home setup is just marketing at work. A 4k stream is about 25 Mbps. A video conference is 10 at most. Microsoft recommends 2 Mbps for Teams. Netflix recommends 25Mbps for 4K because they like recommending a lot more than they'll actually use. Most 4K video is around 16Mbps (19 4K streams in 300Mbps) and Netflix has been doing shot-optimized encodes getting their 4K streams down to 8Mbps or even less (38 4K streams in 300Mbps). Zoom tops out at 4Mbps for their highest-quality. The average home user should be fine with 500Mbps down.
